September 13th- Manzanita Speedway 1/2 Mile We lined up third for the heat race. At the start we took second place before turn 2. I was behind the leader waiting to make my move. I made my move a few laps later on the top side of the track. Once in front I ran the bottom of the track and maintained the lead. A first place finish gave us a pill draw for the main. I drew a eight so we lined up 8th for the main. That put us on the outside of the 4th row. My plan was to run the bottom of the track. At the start we took off until someone checked up. I almost hit the guy in front of me and had the car sideways. A few cars got around me but the caution came back out. After two more restarts we got the main under way. I found that me car was liking the top of the track better, I made my way up to 5th and was running there most of the race. Under a late caution the oil pressure light came on. I watched it closely and at the start it dropped again so I pulled it in. After pulling the motor out we found the pick up tube came off again and spun two main bearings. We finished 15th. August 23th - Canyon Raceway Park We lined up 3rd for the first heat race. At the start we moved into 2nd and ran behind the leader. The track was super fast. I was just burping the gas to set the car and then back on it. Going into turn three and four the car bottomed out on the right rear bad. I thought that it pulled the bead off the bead lock. I still stayed on the gas but took it easy for a lap to make sure it was OK. Then I was back on it but not pushing it as much. We finished second and once in the pits we found out that the right rear shock bolt had broke and the shock was hanging there. We fixed it and lined up 4th for the main. At the start we found are self side by side for second place. I was running the bottom of the track but it was a little wet still. I went in hard in one and two and almost looped it. I had to correct it but ended up going threw the infield. The car was to loose to run the top fast so I was running mid to low line. This wasn't the fastest line and I ended up going into the infield again. With no cautions all race it was hard to make up ground. We still came back to finish 6th in the main. I am not happy with it but I'll take what I can get. August 2nd - USA Race Park Tucson ,AZ Since Central Arizona Raceway got shut down for the rest of the month we decided to go to Tucson and race. There where 31 Super Stocks that showed up to race. We lined up 8th in the heat. They took the top 4 to the main event and the rest had to run the B-main. I loosened the car up and it worked great. A lot of guys where pushing so we where passing them on the bottom. I got into third and came door to door with the second place car at the finish. For the main we made some adjustments to the car to keep up with the track conditions. We started 11th and was up to 8th in a few laps. Then going into 3 & 4 the leaders started spinning. I slammed on the brakes but it put the car into a spin. I just barley hit another car. This made me tag the field in 18th spot. The track was drying out but was still multi groove racing. The car was working great and we started making our way back to the front. I could put the car any where I wanted and at times would pass two cars in a corner. When the finish finally came I had no idea where I finished. Passing by my Dad going into the pits, he showed me 4 fingers. Not bad for coming from the back at I track I never raced at. July 26th - Canyon Raceway Park We started off by breaking in the engine at midnight before the race. I wanted to try a new set up on the car for a wet track. At hot laps the car was fast and turning great. For the heat I didn't notice that the track was drying up and already turning black. I completely missed the set up on the car as it was just way to loose. I had a really hard time seeing out of my visor and missed the top of the track to cause a cation. Next I tried to pass a car in the slop and spun it out but keep on going. We finished 7th in the heat and lined up on the last row for the main. We tightened up the car for the main and filled it up with fuel. It still wasn't tight enough to run the top black groove like the leaders but I ran the middle where there was traction. We missed some big wrecks by running this groove because I saw them happening up ahead. We finally made it to the top 5 late in the race. I was running 5th but couldn't gain on the leaders. If I had more gear I might of been able to get off the corner a little better to get these guys. I finished 5th which I guess is not bad from starting on the last row. A little more gear and the car a little tighter might had been all I need. June 21st- Canyon Speedway Park I had a bad pill draw so I had to start last in the heat. The top was the fast way around and since I started on the outside I moved up quickly. The oil pressure gauge was coming on and off. This is sometimes caused when the pickup tube comes off. I tried to take it easy and finished in 3rd. I started 6th in the main. I started on the outside again and made a couple of passes. The top is where everyone was running. Every lap it looked as if the guys where going to spin so I decided to run the low line. It was not as fast and I lost a couple of spots. I went to the top in turns 1 and 2 then moved to the bottom in 3 and 4. This worked good and I made it by a couple of other cars. Coming out of turn 2 the car had a bad shake then the motor let go. I coasted to the infield and had to get pushed back into the pits once the race was over. I was a hard track to race on. I was as high as 3rd and as low as 6th. I was running 4th when it blew with only 2 laps left. We are already working on a new motor and will be back out for Canyons next race.
May 31st - Manzanita Speedway Touring Series 1/2 mile We started off the night starting on the pole for the 6 lap heat. I got a great start and took the lead into the first corner. The out side starting car took the lead on the high side out of turn two. The car was a little tight but we finished second in the heat. Drawing spots for the main we started 7th. That lined us up 4th row inside. At the start we ran the bottom and was trying to work traffic. I stayed low and passed a few cars. By mid race I was in the 4th spot running with the leaders. We broke away from the pack and had a great race. I was running the low line all the way around the track. I would come out side by side with 3rd but would get out motored down the strait. With the race almost over I made a hard charge into turn 3 and 4 to try and do a slide job on the 3rd place car. I almost spun out and had to get on the brakes. This killed all my chances and ended up finishing 4th for the night. Still not bad for a tough race with a lot of fast cars.
May 25th- Canyon Speedway Park 3/8 mile I let Melodie draw the pill for us and she got us a 3. That lined me up for the pole in the second heat. At the start the out side car had the preferred line and took the lead. His car was tight but he was holding the line. I was getting hit from behind but I had no place to go. I was on his tail trying a little lower line which paid off when he made a mistake and got loose coming off. I made it by him and took the lead. There where about two laps left and we stayed out front. That lined us up for the main outside front row. At the start the pole car knew I had the preferred line as we beat doors a little fighting for position. I took the lead and starting running my laps. The track was dry and my car was working great. A caution came out late in the race when I had about a strait away lead on second place. At the restart I keep hitting my marks and maintaining the lead. A couple more restarts later and we where still out front. The race was coming down to a green white checker finish. While under caution the car just darted to the bottom of the track and I lost all steering. Turns out the bolt that holds the center link in fell out. Even though we didn't finish the race we still got a 9th place finish for the night. Too bad but we are thankful that it didn't happen under the green flag. It was are race to lose and we did.
May 24th- Canyon Speedway Park 3/8 mile The heat race had me lining up 2nd row inside. The groove was up top so at the start I fell back to 4th spot. We where all running in a pack. I tried to make a move down low a couple of times on 3rd but the track was a one groove track. I was on his bumper though and all it took was him to push once coming out of turn two for me to get by. In third with little laps left, thats where I finished. For the main I lined up in the 5th starting spot. The track was starting to come around on the bottom so at the start I jumped down low in turns 1 and 2 and came out the back stretch in 4th place. I ran there for a couple of laps trying to get around the 3rd place car. I got a run out of two and started to pass 3rd down the back stretch. I didn't know if I had him cleared so I ran the middle in 3 and the car pushed strait up the track into the top groove. The 3rd place car with no where to go nailed my car on the right side. He hit my hard but it send me strait again. I keep going as he did to. I thought that the right front was going flat but it stayed up. No cations and the 1st and second place car had a strait away lead on me. I felt like I was gaining a little every lap but once they got in to lap traffic I caught them. The leader was on the top and second place was on the bottom. Once we got around lap traffic I pasted second place on the top was hard on the leader. The time ran out and we got a second place finish for the night. Not bad for all that happened.
May 9th - Manzanita Speedway 1/3 mile For pill draw we drew a three. This lined us up for the outside front row in the first heat. At the green flag we got a run on the pole sitter and took the lead. A caution came out and we had to restart. Same thing as we got a run and took the lead. Ran a few laps and the caution came out. Single file restart and I was off again leading all the laps wire to wire. They did pill draw for the top three in each heat. I drew a three again and this lined me up inside second row for main. The guy who drew a one didn't want to start on the pole so that made me move up to the front row outside. On the start the leader got a good run on me and the third place car did a great slide job on me to take second. Running in third is where I stayed for a few laps. The second place car tried to pass the leader on the bottom. This is all I needed to get by on the outside. Now I had my eyes on the leader. It took a while to pass him. Trying low, trying the outside. Finally I got a great run coming off the top of two and got along side the leader going down the back strait away. I drove into turn three HARD. Side by side into the turn I knew the leader was going push up. I jammed the brakes as the he pushed up and just got into my front bumper. I hit the gas and drove under him to take the lead on the 12th lap. I lead the remaining eight laps to take are second win of the year. This time Melodie was there and she got to come down to the front strait away during trophy presentation. It was a great night for us with a win in the heat and the main event.
May 3rd - Canyon Speedway Park 3/8 mile We made some changes to our cooling system so we would stop over heating. For the heat we started last. At the green flag there was contact made in front of me that had me on the brakes hard. I got around the cars and no caution came out. This left the 1st and 2nd place cars well ahead of me. We finished 3rd and no temp light came on. Sweet! For the main we started 6th on the out side. This was the fast line all night. Once we got the race started I tried to be smooth and make my way around cars. I moved into 4th and ran there for a few laps. The 1st and 2nd place cars started to gain some ground on us. I made a pass on the bottom coming out of turn 4 for 3rd. After a couple laps the caution came out. We ran 1, 2, 3 and pulled a little from the field. Once the white flag came out I decided to try and win it and was going to make my move on the bottom of 3 and 4. Well the second place car had the same idea and started to check up so he wouldn't hit the leader so checked up so I wouldn't hit him. I ended up jumping the inside berm and heading for the finish in the infield. This cost me 2 positions as we came home in 5th. It was a fun night and a great race. No contact with any cars and we didn't get hot all night.
April 26th - Central Arizona Raceway 3/8 Mile The night started off with a 3rd place start in the heat. At the green I dropped below the pole sitter and dropped into second out of turn 2. The track was fast and tacky. So fast that it was bogging the motor in the corners. I was close on the leader. The temp light came on and then the tear button broke on my helmet. I drop of the pace of the leader to try and stay away from the flying mud. I was using my hand to wipe off the mud from the visor but just couldn't see anymore and went off the top of the track. We finished 4th in the heat and lined up 12th for the main. The track had a fast top groove and was hard to pass. We made our way up to about 6th when the caution came out. The temp light was on again so I came into the pits to get the motor cooled off. We came out in last and started working our way to the front. We broke the top 10 and the caution came out. Came back in to cool off the motor and back out into last again. The cars in the back where really loose and hard to pass. I looked to ride the rim or the bottom but there wasn't much traction down there. I tried to make a pass on the bottom when I think the car on top got loose and we made contact. The car got a right front cut tire so I came in and turned it off. We got the body beat up bad on the passenger side. We ended up 15th for the night.
April 19th - Manzanita Speedway 1/2 Mile Touring Series Race Well I drew 52 for the Heat race and that lined us up to start 6th in the heat. I noticed the guy that was starting in front of me having problems with his motor in the pits. When the green flag dropped a couple of guys got by me before I could drop down and pass him. Now I was running the very bottom which is very uncommon for me. The car felt good there so thats where I ran. I started passing cars and working my way up. A mid race caution saw me in third place. A single file restart and we where off again. 1 and 2 was OK for me but 3 & 4 where great. Everybody was tight and while going into 3 & 4 both the leader and second place pushed up the track some and gave me enough room to slide by on the bottom. I lead the last two laps and took the checker flag. The problem was the car was getting hot. It was 230 when I pulled into the pits. For the main we drew 5th starting spot. We cut the front nose to let air get in and worked on the shroud to pull more air. At the start of the race we moved to the bottom as most pushed up. We came out of 1 & 2 in 4th. A caution came out and we had to restart. On the restart the guys dropped to the bottom and I had to wait. I made a few passes on the bottom out of 3 & 4. I was running third and was making a pass on 2nd place. I finished the pass right when the caution came out. I had to start in third place again. I passed 2nd again and set my sights on the leader. I caught up to him when my temp light came on. The cars at 220 degrees and climbing. I made two more laps running side by side with the leader before I pulled it in the pits and parked it. No point of burning the motor up. We where the fastest car on the track but it just wasn't our night. We finished 12th but left knowing we where the car to beat.
March 28th - Canyon 3/8 mile We showed up to the track early and when we where wheel packing I noticed the steering wasn't feeling right. After in the pits we saw the steering shaft rubbing on the headers and a part of the roll cage. We missed hot laps again and I think the steering box or steering quickener is damages from last weeks crash. We where to start front row in the heat but I felt that we should tag with not getting any laps in and to see what the steering will do. At the start of the heat I felt out the car and starting moving up. I was in 4th right behind 2nd and 3rd. They where side by side so I had now where to go. The pass was made by the 3rd place car and I followed. In 3rd I was pressuring the 2nd place car when he spun going into turn 1. I moved off the top of the track to a void him and the caution came out. I am in 2nd and tried a couple moves on the inside but the fast lane was up top and my car was to loose. We finished 2nd and prepared for the main. Lots of changes to the car where made and the steering was making it hard to drive smooth. I started 4th in the main and at the green flag the two front row cars split and left the middle of the track open. I shot to the middle and we where 3 wide down the front strait away. I threw it into the corner and it stuck. I came in the lead and started running my laps. I got in a groove and the laps where winding down. I was in lap traffic and didn't know how close 2nd place was. I ran my own race and moving threw lap traffic. I came around and saw the white flag. What, I might win this thing. I probably ran my slowest lap all night because I didn't want to screw up on the last lap. I came around and took the Checker Flag. It was a great night. We lapped all the way up to 4th place with a caution free race. In Dominate fashion we won by over half a lap. I hope this means we will have more to come. Thanks to every body that helped out in the pits.
March 22nd - Casa Grand - Touring Series Race This was the First race for us. We showed up late and didn't get any hot laps. In the heat we started 8th and was up to 5th before we pulled in only going 4 laps. The motor wasn't running right and I didn't want to hurt our new engine. In the pits we found out it was a bad spark plug. Set it up for the main in last and on the first lap got hit from the top and took us out for the night. 9th in Heat and 23rd in Main. Oh well. Wish we has more laps on the car to feel it out.
