Deane and Więcek aim high as Formula DRIFT heads to Canada
The Worthouse Drift Team’s duo will return to action after a brief summer break with round five of the Formula DRIFT Pro Championship taking place at the Autodrome St-Eustache in Montreal, Canada this weekend.
Championship leader James Deane heads to Canada with a 56-point advantage having won the opening round in Long Beach and round three in Atlanta before finishing inside the top eight last time out in New Jersey. Meanwhile his Polish teammate Piotr Więcek is ranked 14th overall, as a top Formula DRIFT rookie.
Both have flown to Montreal for the “True North” event straight from Toruń, Poland where they’ve competed in the fourth round of the Drift Masters Grand Prix with the sister Budmat Auto Drift Team. The week earlier Deane took part in the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK, with Formula DRIFT stars being one of the highlights of the famous automotive event.
Canada means another new track for the Worthouse Drift Team’s drivers but one which they’ve both visited as spectators last year while planning their 2017 campaign. Practice and qualifying will take place on Friday, with the latter streamed live on www.formulad.com/live from 6 PM local time. Saturday’s main competition starts with a Top 32 at 4:15 PM followed by the opening ceremony at 8 PM and Top 16 at 8:30 PM, all also streamed live.
