Deane takes third Formula DRIFT podium of the season in Canada

Worthouse Drift Team’s James Deane continues to lead the Formula DRIFT Pro Championship after taking third position and his third podium of the season during the Saturday’s Round 5 at the Autodrome St-Eustache in Canada. His Polish teammate Piotr Więcek was impressive in qualifying but an unlucky practice crash just minutes before Top 32 forced him out of the main event.

Deane was on fire in Canada, taking first in qualifying and earning a Bye Run for the Top 32 before topping Dai Yoshihara and Robbie Nishida in Top 16 and Great 8 respectively. The Irishman then clashed with last year’s Canada winner Fredric Aasbo. The Worthouse Drift Team’s star put in an impressive lead run and an equally spectacular chase run before a small mistake in the final corner handed the victory to the Norwegian Hammer. Aasbo eventually won the entire event, taking a record breaking tenth Formula DRIFT victory and moving to second overall, 34 points behind Deane. James continues to lead the Championship with three podiums, including two wins, from five events, while Falken leads the Tire Championship standings with a 50 points advantage.
