Deane takes third Formula DRIFT victory of the season

Worthouse Drift Team’s James Deane took his third victory of the season and extended his Championship lead after a spectacular performance during round six in Monroe, Washington. His Polish teammate and series rookie Piotr Więcek scored his best result in the series by taking fifth position.

Deane started the weekend by qualifying first for the second consecutive time, earning a Bye Run for Top 32 and topping Dan Burkett in Top 16. The Irishman then clashed with friend and teammate Piotr Więcek, who himself took a solid ninth in the qualifying before beating Dean Keartney and Alex Heilbrunn in his first two duels.

The Worthouse Drift Team’s duo put in an amazing show before Deane went on to battle Dai Yoshihara in Top 4 and Fredric Aasbo in the final, coming out on top twice in fierce battles which both included On More Time runs.

Deane’s victory in Monroe is his third of the season after Long Beach and Atlanta, extending his Championship lead over Aasbo to 57 points with just two rounds to go. Next up in Texas Motor Speedway on the 8-9 of September.
